Krobo Bead #103

Recycled out of cast off bottles and windshield glass in Krobo Odumase, Ghana. These beautiful beads are individually cast in clay molds and fired ina wood burning kiln. After the beads have been removed from the mold and cooled, they are hand decorated and refired. The entire process can take up to four days for a complex pattern with mutliple colors and designs.
These beads have a long history in the region where they are worn for special occasions.Beads are collected and handed down through the generations.
