In the northern Highlands of Guinea, hand tyed indigo cloth has had a long history. Our cloth begins as white jacquard and is skillfully tied into complicated patterns. It is interesting to note that the material used in tying the cloth is what every is at hand. Raffia, sewing thread even recycled strips if plastic serve to form a resist and maintain the white patterns. The indigo used in the dyepot is made from the crushed and fermented leaves of the local indigofera plant. Many women are involved in the various stages of the production of this cloth. We have been working with the same group for over 5 years and alway look forward to their wonderful smiles and new designs. Machine wash warm and tumble dry. Please wash with darks as some discharge may occur.
Priced per piece. (We may have sets available in each pattern as the cloth is tied in sets.Let us know if you would like both pieces by ordering 2 of the same number.)
