This gorgeous piece of indigo was made by the Mossi people of Mali, West Africa. Raw cotton is spun by hand with a drop spindle and woven into strips. The strips are then hand stitched together to create the base fabric which undyed is off white. The patterns are then hand stitched into the base cloth and the entire piece is dyed repeatedly with natural indigo. This piece was lovingly worn as a "wrapper" for many years and has become very soft and supple. Use as is for a throw or incorporate into home textiles or garments. Simply dreamy.
