This vintage textile was used as a "wrapper" in the West African Country of Ivory Coast by the Baule tribe. Made of finely spun hand woven cotton, the cloth was constructed by sewing the strips together into a larger piece. Once assembled the cloth was expertly tied to form a resist against the natural indigo dye.
This textile has a soft supple hand found only in the finest vintage textiles.
